The College Indoor Track and Field season is underway and a Manitowoc native is off to a great start! 2015 Lincoln High School graduate and former state champion, Eric Fogltanz competed last weekend at the Big-12 conference meet in Lubbock, Texas for the #20 Iowa State men’s track and field team. Fogltanz came from behind in heat one of the 600-yard run to knock off the defending champion, Vincent Crisp, of Texas Tech in a personal best time of 1:08.22. It was the 3rd best time in ISU history. However, Eric’s teammate Roshon Roomes..then proceeded to set a school and collegiate record time of 1:07.67 in the 2nd heat, leading to a Big 12 title in the event. Eric, the son of Don & Mary Fogltanz, will now prepare for the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships in Birmingham, Alabama March 8th & 9th when he’ll compete for the ‘Cyclones’ distance medley relay team. He’s a senior for the indoor season but has junior status for the ‘outdoor’ schedule.
