Manitowoc’s Lia Haile started the “Hopeful Hearts Club” at Hope House about 7 years ago. Lia, who is now 15, had a new effort in mind when she came to Mayor Justin Nickels office a few months ago. This time, the mayor says, it was to help offset the cost of bus tokens.
So, Mayor Nickels along with his staff and city council members, came together to raise the money needed.
Lia Haile also has a special collection for toys for children at Hope House.
