With winter weather continuing to ravage the Lakeshore, the City of Manitowoc is attempting to help limit the amount of salt residents use on their sidewalks. Once you put it down, salt doesn’t go away. Instead it travels into our lakes and streams endangering our freshwater resources. To help protect our freshwater resources, the City of Manitowoc is giving away Salt Wise cups to residents. The cups will hold the right amount of salt that should be used to treat about 10 Squares of sidewalk. Cups can be picked up at City Hall at the Clerk’s office or the Engineering office while supplies last. To learn more about being salt wise visit wisaltwise.com.
