A Steering Committee…headed by Roncalli High School President John Stelzer has made its recommendation for Regional Catholic School Planning. During an interview yesterday, Stelzer told Seehafer News he was asked in August by Bishop David Ricken along with area pastors and administrators to lead the steering committee.
Stelzer explains the regional plan would include a look at Roncalli, St. Francis of Assisi School and all Catholic parishes in Manitowoc County at the start.
Part of the focus was a facility review of the high school and elementary and middle schools and, Stelzer explains the recommendation they arrived at.
The proposal would be for a building project of between $18 and 20 million dollars, with a square footage of 80,000 square feet. Bishop Ricken gave his approval of the plan, pending the feasibility study to be conducted early this year by a firm, contracted through the Green Bay Diocese called “Changing Our World.” Those desiring more information can attend a presentation on the recommended plan in the Roncalli Fine Arts Center on Wednesday night, February 20th starting at 7:15. Stelzer said the goal of Catholic School Planning is to create more opportunities for our young people to grow in their faith.
