One Dead After Falling Through Lake Winnebago Ice

A man has died after he fell through the ice on Lake Winnebago just north of Fond du Lac last night. Crews were initially called to the lake at around 9:30 PM, to find three people on two ATV’s submerged in the water. A third ATV was able to stop before falling in as well. A 22 year old man was able to pull himself from the frigid water, and help a 23 year old woman escape prior to the rescue teams arriving. The third victim, a 55 year old man from Fond du Lac was not so lucky, and died after he went underwater. It is important to always know how deep the ice on any body of water is before going on it, whether on foot or on a vehicle.
