Orion Energy Systems, Inc. based in Manitowoc has announced the receipt of $3.6 million dollar award notifications to install L-E-D lighting systems in two U.S. government facilities. According to a news release Friday, Orion is replacing legacy T5, T8, compact fluorescent & H-I-D lighting systems with its’ energy-efficient L-E-D lighting platforms & controls, “in support of the customers’ environmental, energy efficiency and cost-saving goals.” The projects are expected to begin later this year and, the awards follow ‘several’ projects for those same government entities in the recent past. Orion CEO, Mike Altschaefli said, “We are honored to expand our support of the government’s energy efficiency and facility-lighting goals with our L-E-D lighting solutions. He added in part, “these customers expect to reduce annual energy usage for lighting..by approximately 50% per facility, while also delivering much-improved illumination.”
