After several recent studies showed a link between minors using vaping devices and the transition into traditional cigarettes, Kimberly and Little Chute lawmakers have made it illegal for minors to use the electronic smoking devices. While this ban eliminates the ability for minors to use the variations with nicotine, the nicotine free versions are also not allowed. The use of these products is a nationwide issue, but in Wisconsin alone, the use of vaping materials has increased by 154% since 2014, according to state health officials. Fines for those failing to abide by the new rules begin at $100 for a first offence and increase per instance.
