Manitowoc County Sheriff Night Shift Commander and Sheriff-Elect Dan Hartwig will have those titles stripped Monday morning at 9 a.m. when he’s sworn in as Manitowoc County Sheriff succeeding Rob Hermann who’s retiring after 34 years in law enforcement. Hartwig began his career as a part-time reserve sheriff’s deputy in 1998—promoted to full-time patrol deputy in 1999. A promotion to Road Sgt. came in 2007—lieutenant in 2012—Night Shift Commander In 2017 and now his words “living my life-long dream” in becoming Manitowoc County Sheriff. Hartwig says he takes the words “to protect and serve” very seriously.
The incoming sheriff has seen plenty of changes during his 20-year-plus career especially in technology, which Hartwig says can be at times “a double-edged sword.”
Hartwig tells Seehafer News that he has a long career ahead of him. We asked him what he wants to be remembered as when he finally decides to hang it up.
The Town of Two Rivers resident will be sworn in Monday morning at the County Courthouse.
