A 30-year-old Manitowoc man remains in the County Jail facing multiple charges after he allegedly choked his girlfriend. Joshua Klein is charged with two counts each of strangulation and misdemeanor bail jumping—one count each of resisting an officer and felony bail jumping and intimidation of a victim. Police were called Wednesday afternoon to a home in the 1000 block of Memorial Drive where the victim said she was planning to go to Milwaukee. Klein became upset to the point of putting her in about a 10 second chokehold. After threatening to call the police he squeezed the victim’s neck with his hands in two five-second intervals. Klein eventually was taken into custody and appeared for a hearing yesterday where bail was set at $500 cash. Conditions include that Klein have no contact with the victim and report to the Police Department for photos and prints upon release. His initial appearance is scheduled for next Wednesday at 1:30.
