The state of Wisconsin is warning people about a possible damaging insect hiding on your wreaths and other holiday greenery. The Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection says a parasitic insect called the elongate hemlock scale can spread from evergreen to evergreen. It has been found in holiday materials which came to Wisconsin from North Carolina. The parasite could pose a danger to the state’s Christmas tree industry. State officials say you should burn your greenery.
