While fire crews were called to a fire at an Appleton apartment, their job was pretty easy, as the flames were put out by the sprinkler system in the building. Crews were informed of the fire on East Peter Street at around 1:30 AM, but by the time they arrived, the fire was already out. It was determined that the blaze originated in a garbage can in the bathroom, due to the improper disposal of smoking materials. The two adults and three children living in the apartment were all reported to be safe and uninjured, and the American Red Cross are aiding the family. Officials are saying that the sprinkler definitely prevented more damage from being done to the building.
