The fatality resulting from a high-speed chase last Tuesday is being investigated by the State Division of Criminal Investigation, as requested by the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office. 25 year old Chris Klein of Two Rivers, a track and field coach at Roncalli High School, was killed during that chase.
Officers report the chase began when deputy Brandon Radke attempted to stop the driver of a Lincoln town car for multiple traffic violations in the early evening Tuesday in Mishicot. The driver, a 48 year old two rivers man, fled the scene and Radke chased him for about four miles at speeds reaching up to 100 miles per hour. the fleeing vehicle collided with a pickup truck at the intersection of Crystal Springs Road and State 147, with both vehicles ending up in the ditch. Klein, the pickup driver, was pronounced dead at the scene. The 48 year old driver of the Lincoln was taken to Aurora Bay Care in Green Bay and treated for serious injuries.
The State Law Enforcement Agency is collecting evidence and will turn over repoorts to the Manitowoc County District Attorney. The State Patrol and the local coroner’s office are assisting in the investigation.
