Beginning today, the Manitowoc Police Department is taking part in the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign, which aims to deter driving under the influence. The statewide campaign will run through January 1st, and will see more officers on patrol. Captain Jason Freiboth said of the campaign, “The goal of these comprehensive law enforcement efforts is to help make roadways safer for everyone by discouraging people from making the dangerous and irresponsible decision of getting behind the wheel impaired.” Last year in Wisconsin, alcohol-related crashes resulted in 169 deaths and more than 3,300 injuries.
