Manitowoc County DNR Warden Alyssa Neff-Miller said she saw a hunt for the storybooks Sunday on the last day of Wisconsin’s 9-day gun-deer season. Neff-Miller was patrolling the Killsnake Wildlife Area when she observed two “soon to be lucky” hunters in the parking lot getting ready for their final hunt. While her patrol vehicle was overlooking part of the marsh…she saw out of the corner of her eye a buck moving toward the hunters. They spotted the animal and two shots rang out when it moved into the marsh grass. Brandon, who shot the buck, told the warden that his buddy looked over his shoulder and saw the deer. But, Brandon thought his friend was joking until he looked-up to see the buck approaching in their direction. The hunter said all he could think of was “he had to get at least 50-feet from the road and take a safe shot!”
