A woman who formerly resided in Green Bay has entered a guilty plea in federal court in relation to charges of wire fraud, filing false tax returns and aggravated identity theft. 40 year old Alma Ramirez admitted to preparing and filing with the IRS more than 60 false federal income tax returns, seeking more than $300,000 in refunds. This scam took place from March 2013 to May 2016, and had other help her in the scheme. Ramirez will pay $301,000 in restitution to the IRS, will spend at least two years in prison, and is facing an additional 20 years. Her sentencing hearing is scheduled for February 19th.
