The American Heart Association and the American College of Cardiology have released their key recommendations for the 2018 cholesterol guidelines. More personalized risk assessments and new cholesterol-lowering drug options for people at the highest risk for cardiovascular disease were the main points of the recommendations. Nearly one of every three American adults have high levels of LDL cholesterol, which is the bad kind, and according to President of the American College of Cardiology, Michael Valentine MD, treatment for that is not one size fits all.
