A Manitowoc man was taken into police custody Wednesday evening after he had gotten into a physical altercation with his ex-girlfriend. Officers were called to the 1900 block of South 39th Street at around 6:00 PM, on a report of a fight. Officers entered the apartment building and were motioned over to where the altercation was taking place. The 22-year-old man initially refused to listen to officers instructions and continued to pin the woman against the wall. He did eventually let go but attempted to lunge at her again while being handcuffed. It was determined that the man had beaten the woman and threw her down the stairs, breaking a mirror and railing in the process. The man is being charged with recklessly endangering safety, disorderly conduct, simple battery, resisting arrest, and damage to property.
