The Manitowoc County Board of Supervisors will have the regular meeting at 6:30 tonight. Several appointments to different committees are near the top of the agenda but perhaps one of the largest tasks is the possible approval of the 2019 budget and Property Tax Levy from the Finance Committee. One item of interest in this budget is; $60,000 to support Project Lakeshore. Project Lakeshore is a, non-government, Economic Development Board that’s primary focus is to attract or grow business in Lakeshore Communities and is not subject to Open meetings due to the sensitive nature of business discussions. This concerns some members of the County Board.
The support and $60,000 in funding received a recommendation in favor of giving the non-government entity, Project Lakeshore, the funding from Manitowoc County. But members narrowly passed that motion on a 3-2 vote. Project Lakeshore is currently supported by 60% private funds and 40% by the City of Manitowoc, Two Rivers and Keil.
