Manitowoc’s unemployment rate declined slightly while the jobless numbers for the county remain unchanged in August. Figures released this afternoon by the State Department of Workforce Development show the city’s rate of three-point-three percent is down from three-point-four percent in July and decreased significantly from last August’s number of four-percent. Manitowoc County checked in for a second consecutive month at three-percent, a half-a-percent decline from three-and-a-half percent in August of 2017. The state DWD adds that August 2018 preliminary unemployment rates declined or remain unchanged in 31 of Wisconsin’s 32 largest cities and 67 of the states 72 counties. The release also follows last weeks Business of Labor Statistics monthly statewide estimates showing Wisconsin maintained a seasonally adjusted unemployment rate of three-percent or lower for a seventh straight month setting another record.
