The Brewers are taking the day off before beginning their final road trip Friday in Pittsburgh. The Brew Crew will play three games against the Pirates and three in St. Louis before finishing up at home next weekend against Detroit. The Crew hold the top N-L wild card spot and are two-and-a-half games back in the N-L Central. The day off comes at a good time down the stretch as two gimpy Milwaukee outfielders are trying to bounce back. Lorenzo Cain was held out Wednesday night while suffering soreness in the area of his right rib cage. He’d been removed from the action during Tuesday’s game against the Reds and he will be reassessed Friday. Ryan Braun missed a third straight game Tuesday. He has had to deal with back and side issues all season.
