Wisconsin Attorney General Brad Schimel was in Manitowoc this morning to speak about the second round of School Safety Grants. He made the announcement at the Manitowoc Public School District Administration Building, including the role that the MPSD will be playing.
The person that is training these future trainers is John-Michael Keyes. He is the Executive Director of the I Love U Guys foundation. Keyes lost his 16 year old daughter Emily to a gunman, and has been using his experience to help make schools a safer place.
The Director of Pupil Services for the Manitowoc Public School District, Joanne Metzen, spoke about how the district plans to use the second round of funding.
It has not yet been determined exactly how much the MPSD will be receiving, as their application has yet to be completely processed. What is known is that the training they will be helping offer throughout the state will undoubtedly help their, and other schools deal with any sort of threat.
