Gio Gonzalez and three Brewer relievers shut out the Cincinnati Reds on two hits in a 7-nothing victory at Miller Park. Jesus Aguilar pounded his 33rd home run and drove in four of the runs for Milwaukee, giving the big 1st baseman 103-RBI’s. Aguilar on collecting his 100th RBI.
Gonzalez went the first six innings for his ninth victory on his his 33rd- birthday! Gio was followed to the ‘hill’ by Corey Knebel, Junior Guerra & Freddy Peralta. Manager Craig Counsel Spoke about Gonzales’ success.
Manny Pina also ripped a 3-run homer.
The Brewers have now moved to within two-and-a-half games of the first-place Cubs. Centerfielder Lorenzo Cain missed the game and will be evaluated before tomorrow night’s contest in Pittsburgh. The Brewers are off today (Thursday) and will send Jhoulys Chacin (yoh-LEASE shah-SEEN’) to the mound against the Pirates.
