If you have been outside much over the past few days, you may have noticed that the mosquito population has skyrocketed. The DNR is saying this is a direct result of the massive rainfall the eastern part of the state has endured. They have a few tips for the public to help control the overall mosquito population. First, be sure to dispose of any trash that contains standing water, such as old tires. Also change the water in your bird baths and wading pools, and also ensure your potted plants and rain gutters don’t have any standing water in them. If at all possible the DNR is asking that you drain and fill and stagnant puddles ditches or any other wet areas around your home and property.
