There was a tragic accident in the town of Mishicot where an 8-year-old child collapsed and died while playing baseball. Manitowoc County Deputy Inspector Jason Orth said in a news release this morning that deputies and EMS personnel were called at approximately 1:45 yesterday afternoon to a residence in the township. The preliminary investigation shows the 8-year-old was unintentionally struck in the head by a baseball. The child from rural Mishicot was transported by ambulance to Aurora Medical Center in Two Rivers. Despite life-saving measures by emergency crews, the child died. Investigators along with the Manitowoc County Coroner’s Office are continuing to investigate the incident, although no criminal activity is believed to be involved. The name of the child or the cause of death is not being released at this time. Mishicot and Two Rivers Ambulance services assisted at the scene.
