Some storm damage is reported in the city of Manitowoc from overnight thunderstorms. Police Lieutenant Robert Arps tells Seehafer News that his department received word of a large tree limb down in the 1700 block of Waldo Boulevard, shortly after 11:00 last night. It was blocking one lane of traffic. About 5-minutes later, Lt. Arps said another large limb was knocked-down in the 600 block of South 28th Street causing damage to a house. No injuries were reported in either incident and traffic at those locations is back to normal this morning. Also, no issues with flooding were reported in the city. Heavy rainfall was reported in Manitowoc between 11:30 and 12:30 with the rain amount measuring about an inch between midnight and 5:00 o’clock. A listener in Osman reports an inch and a quarter this morning.
Meanwhile, if you see a utility line down in your neighborhood and you’re unsure whether it’s a cable or electrical line please call either Manitowoc Public Utilities or Wisconsin Public Service.
*UPDATE 8/28/2018 10:05 AM*
We made our way out to the damaged home on South 28th Street and spoke with the homeowner. The large branch, measuring around 6 inches in diameter narrowly missed landing on his home, but did smash a window, and did minor damage to his deck. The branch also caught a wire that was over the street, and it ripped down through the siding on a corner of his home. The homeowner is very thankful more damage wasn’t done, as the branch is very large and could have done a lot more damage. All things considered, he was in good spirits.
