A resolution approved by the Manitowoc County Board’s Finance committee to seek a legal opinion from the State Attorney general on a proposed half a percent sales tax has been delayed. County Executive Bob Ziegelbauer said today that the move to consult Brad Schimel wasn’t dealt with last night after the request was withdrawn. Ziegelbauer was also critical of both County board chairman Jim Brey and county supervisor Paul Hansen for their support of the tax.
The county executive added that both men “weren’t expecting an answer very soon”so he believes they put off the resolution until after the election.”
