The State Building Commission has given its approval to the design for the rebuilt Eagle Tower in Door County. The Friends of Peninsula State Park raised 750-thousand dollars to cover part of the two-million dollar cost. The D-N-R will now take the plan before the State Natural Resources Board at its September meeting. If the board approves the project, work would start in December and the new Eagle Tower would be open by late summer 2019. The former tower was torn down when engineering studies found it was unsafe.
