The U-S District Court judge for Wisconsin’s western district has withdrawn from federal suit over the state’s legislative maps. Judge Barabara Crabb didn’t explain the decision made public Thursday. Her seat on the three-judge panel will be taken by U-S District Judge James Peterson. The U-S Supreme Court ruled in June that Democrats lacked legal standing to sue, but it also left the door open for the challengers to establish that standing. Lawyers involved in the case have two weeks to file memos on what they think should happen next.
