An Appleton man has been convicted of attempted first degree homicide after he spiked his girlfriend’s drink with an abortion inducing drug. 45 year old Manishkumar M. Patel is facing a maximum of 60 years in state prison. Several other charges were dropped in the plea deal, including charges in a separate felony case and misdemeanor case. Patel was on the run for nearly a decade, and was hiding in New York before he was discovered and sent back to Outagamie County. He was placed in prison on over $50 million cash bail. Patel’s sentencing hearing will be on October 9th.
