A Wausau woman tells her sister she looked down to find her cell phone while she was driving — and that’s when she hit a pedestrian. Police say 27-year-old Josie Romero drove away while the unconscious victim lay bleeding in the street. Romero had just been in a court hearing where she had been facing drug charges. The hit-and-run accident happened last Thursday. The victim suffered bleeding in the brain and had to have part of her skull removed. A criminal complaint was filed against Romero in Marathon County Court Monday.
