Demolition of the Monterey Dam in Janesville could resume today (Wednesday) after a ruling by a Rock County Circuit Court judge. The Monterey Dam Association had filed for a temporary injunction against the city of Janesville. They say removing the 170-year-old dam would create “irreparable harm.” People living nearby were troubled by the dropping water levels. They had told the court their property values would be impacted by the draining of the Monterey lagoon. Demolition work had started last week.
