Yesterday at the Lincoln Park Zoo Jerry Theys from Wildlife of Wisconsin was on hand to teach children about how they rehabilitate wild animals. The presentation was a part of the zoo’s Tuesday’s at 10 program, which has a new guest every week to teach children and adults alike about different aspects of the animal kingdom. Jerry explained what exactly they do at WoW.

He told us that over the course of a year, they take in around 1000 animals that need help, over half of which are able to be released back into the wild.

The attendees were able to get some hands on experience, and also were able to see a Red Tail Hawk up close.

Farza the Red Tailed Hawk
The hawk, named Farza, was found with a broken left wing that had already begun to heal. Sadly Farza is one of the many animals helped by Wildlife of Wisconsin that will never be released into the wild, because he will never be able to fly properly. Jerry was however able to release a small bird, who was found orphaned, right at the end of the program.
