Update: Bail was set at $1000 cash for 17-year old William M. Lowe from Two Rivers. He is charged with felony—operating without the owner’s consent and hit and run.
A 17-year old Manitowoc youth was booked into the County Jail yesterday after stealing a car and then becoming involved in two hit-&-run crashes. Manitowoc police say an officer was dispatched about 9:45am to the Burger Boat Company parking lot…where a Maribel man said his 2007-Ford Taurus was taken without his permission sometime after 9:00 Sunday night. Nearly 3-hours later, officers were summoned to two northside locations for incidents involving the stolen car: North 18th and Waldo and another at North 23rd & Fairmont. Two people were shook-up and complained of pain, while the stolen Taurus had to be towed from the scene for disabling damage. The driver of the stolen unit ran from the scene but witnesses gave police a description of him and he was located in the 400-block of North 10th Street. While being questioned at police headquarters, the 17-year old admitted to the crimes. He’s being held on a felony count of Operating without the Owners Consent.
