The La Crosse City Council is scheduled to vote next month on a new city ordinance making it tougher on people who fail to pay their parking tickets. If approved, La Crosse police would be allowed to put a boot on the front wheel of a car with too many unpaid tickets — so it can’t be moved. Officials want to put pressure on people who are slow to pay their fines. La Crosse police say there are currently more than two-thousand traffic tickets on the books, with scofflaws owing nearly 260-thousand dollars in overdue parking fees.
