The City of Two Rivers is preparing to welcome citizens from their sister city, Domažlice Czech Republic. The special relationship between the two cities began back in World War II after the city was liberated from German control by Lt. Col. Matt Konop. Two Rivers City Manager Greg Buckley explains.
On April 27, 2017, Two Rivers City Manager Greg Buckley signed the proclamation confirming the Sister City relationship. The signing ceremony was live-streamed to Domažlice and broadcast in both English and Czech. A Two Rivers delegation carried the proclamation to Domažlice for the Czech signing ceremony by Mayor Mirsolav Mach on May 5, 2017.
The 10 Delegates from the Czech city will make their way to the Lakeshore next Friday.
There will be plenty of other activities as well.
This public is invited to the ceremonies that will include the dedication of a memorial plaque, followed by a band concert and ice cream social in central park featuring the Czech Choraliers and Don Konop and the Melody Makers band.
