Strong pitching by rookie Freddy Peralta and plenty of offense from first baseman Jesus Aguilar powered Milwaukee to a 3-2 win at Pittsburgh Tuesday night. Aguilar went two-for-three, hit his 14th home run and drove in all three Brewer runs, while Peralta blanked the Pirates on two hits in six innings. Peralta won his second game in three major league starts. Manager Craig Counsell commented Peralta’s outing.
Peralta was thankful for the RBI’s knocked in by Aguilar.
Counsell called Jesus a very good hitter.
Cory Knebel walked a man with two out, but nailed things down in the ninth inning for his seventh save. Starling Marte had a homer for Pittsburgh, showing that, in Counsell’s words, the pen is human.
Zach Davies made a rehab start for Triple-A Colorado Springs, giving up two runs in less than two innings. Lefty Brent Suter starts tonight’s 6:05 P-M rubber game at P-N-C Park.
