Wisconsin’s largest city has done as expected and submitted a formal bid to host the 2020 Democratic National Committee. Milwaukee calls itself the “fresh coast” as it tries to draw thousands of Democrats to the Milwaukee Bucks’ new arena in July that year. Mayor Tom Barrett is promising “a first-class delegate experience.” The D-N-C is said to be considering eight major metropolitan areas for the lucrative assignment. Competitors include Atlanta, Birmingham, Denver, Houston, Miami Beach, New York and San Francisco and the winner should be announced by the end of the summer.
