Governor Scott Walker was in Manitowoc over the noon hour for a ground-breaking ceremony. Walker’s visit coincided with the ceremonial start of the ‘seawall dock replacement’ at the Badger Car-ferry dock, which officially gets underway after the cross-lake season ends in mid-October. The Governor spoke about the necessity of this project.

Mayor Justin Nickels spoke too, thanking the State & Federal government for providing nearly 100% of the cost of the multi-million dollar upgrade. 25th district State Representative Paul Tittl had this to say about the economic benefits of the carferry.
The Seawall
The seawall replacement effort is expected to be finished in time for the 2019 Lake Michigan Car-ferry season. Foth Construction of Green Bay is the primary contractor for the seawall project in Manitowoc ‘and’ a corresponding upgrade in Ludington.
