Christian Yelich’s deep fly to center was brought down on a leaping catch by Odubel Herrera, ending a bottom-of-the-ninth rally for Milwaukee Sunday. The Brewers scored four times in the final inning but lost 10-9 to the Philadelphia Phillies. While Manaer Craig Ciounsell isn’t happy with the result, he is pleased with how his team refused to make it easy.
Eric Thames had two home runs and four runs batted in, including a three run shot in the 9th to bring the Crew to within one.
Starting pitcher Chase Anderson was ineffective — giving up six runs. Anderson Spoke on his health.
Maikel Franco, Herrera and Rhys Hoskins all homered for the Phillies, who took two-out-of-three games in the weekend series. The Brewers travel to Pittsburgh for a series starting Tuesday night. Milwaukee ace Jhoulys Chacin will be looking for his seventh victory. First Pitch is scheduled for 6:05 PM. The game will be picked up on 1240 AM WOMT at 6:30 PM, right after Sports Talk, live from the Big Apple in Rockwood.
