An outdoor power equipment company headquartered in Brillion is closing its plant in southeast Nebraska. Ariens company said in an announcement last week that nearly 200 employees at the plant in Auburn, Nebraska, will be affected. The shutdown is expected to be finished between August 17th and October 15th. Production will be moved to the Brillion plant as a cost-saving measure, meaning more hiring for the Calumet County community.
The company says Auburn’s full time employees will receive severance packages, and may apply for positions in Brillion. Those who move will get a relocation bonus. Ariens bought the Auburn plant in November of 2007 from Auburn Consolidated Industries.
