An initial group of investors, including a Manitowoc native, has cleared the first hurdle in an attempt to revive Midwest Express Airlines. Curt Drumm is Vice President of the corporation and he’s joined by CEO Greg Aretakis Treasurer Rick Kummerow and Christine Williams is in charge of branding and marketing. Drumm co-founded & produced the Thunder on the Lakeshore Airshow for 21-years and formerly served as President & owner of Wisconsin-based Lakeshore Aviation. He tells Seehafer News the Securities & Exchange Commission recently approved the first-round of investing at $750,000.
Midwest Express was famous for its’ wide leather seats and signature chocolate chip cookies, baked fresh on board, before it was sold in 2010 and its’ headquarters moved out of state. Drumm says-they’ve surveyed former customers and focused on key (travel) attributes that they liked.
Curt Drumm said their goal is have planes in the air by 2020, but backers think it’s possible to restart expanded flight services in the region earlier than that target date.
