Multiple juveniles are in custody in connection with a recent string of vehicle thefts in the City of Sheboygan.
Captain Joel Kuszynski of the Sheboygan Police Department said that since August 15th, ten vehicle thefts and five attempted vehicle thefts have occurred in the City, with suspects targeting Kia and Hyundai models manufactured between 2011 and 2022.
He continued to say that in the time since, officers and the Street Crimes Unit collected evidence that led to the arrest and confessions from three Sheboygan juveniles for their role in four of the 15 thefts.
Meanwhile, a fourth juvenile from Sheboygan was arrested for operating a stolen vehicle from Plymouth on Sunday (November 1st).
At this time, the investigation into the recent uptick in vehicle thefts remains ongoing, with Captain Kuszynski adding that he believes more arrests will be coming.
Anyone with information on any of the thefts is encouraged to contact the Sheboygan Police Department by calling 920-459-3333.
Likewise, any owner of a Kia or Hyundai manufactured between 2011 and 2022 is urged to visit a dealership to have their hardware updated, as these vehicles are vulnerable to theft even if a key is not present.
