For the eighth consecutive time his name has appeared on the ballot, Paul Tittl was selected to represent the Manitowoc area in Madison.
Rep. Tittl bested Chris Able by just over 2,400 votes, the closest race he has experienced over his 14-year run.
He tells SeehaferNews.com that he believes his success on election night can be attributed to his willingness and eagerness to listen to the people.
“God gave me two ears and one mouth, and I try to listen a little bit better than I talk,” he said. “I think people want to be heard and they want to know if somebody is going to fight for them.”
In a time when it seems like every political advertisement on the radio, TV, and online tries to spell doom and gloom if the “other guy or gal” is elected, Rep. Tittl is very proud of the race he and Able ran.
“Chris and I both…kept it clean. We don’t go dirty. We just talk about what we’re going to do for the people,” he said of the campaign. “I think if more politicians did that…(there) would be less of a distaste for politics in the public right now, because it seems very divided.”
In fact, he had nothing but positive things to say about his opponent, saying “Chris is a good man and he’s going to work hard on the school board.”
There is also a sense of division among politicians in Madison and Washington, bolstered by those attack ads, but Rep. Tittl says he knows Governor-Elect David Crowley well and plans to work with him.
“He was in the assembly just a few years back, and I have a good relationship with the governor-elect,” he revealed. “I’m hoping to be able to cash in on that and use our friendship to make sure that we do good things for Wisconsin.”
Rep. Tittl tells us he plans to stay focused on mental health reform and outdoor legislation, including making it more accessible to the youth and making the licensing process easier.
