For the second time this year, a banner recognizing a local veteran was reported missing.
Earlier this year, Shady Lane Inc. asked the public for help finding the Salute to Service Banner for Private Robert L. Nelson, which had blown away during a heavy windstorm.
That banner was eventually located, but the banner belonging to Specialist Dustin J. Knapp was reported missing.
It’s not clear what happened to it, but the 6’ tall dedication to SPC Knapp was returned to the Streets Department by the Manitowoc Police Department.
The Salute to Service Banner Program recognizes and honors local veterans and active-duty military members for their service to our country.
Each banner represents an individual who has served and holds significant sentimental value for their family and our community.
