A Manitowoc Public School District teacher was awarded a grant for a new indoor play structure.
It’s part of the district’s Innovation Mini Grant program that supports new ideas that promote student mental health and wellness.
Stephanie Rosado-Stuckmann and the Riverview Early Learning Center team will use the funding to purchase play equipment that helps students stay active when Wisconsin’s weather keeps them inside.
It will be set up in the school’s gym for students to climb, slide, explore, and play with classmates.
MPSD Student Services Coordinator Lynette Simonar congratulated and thanked the Riverview Elementary team and encouraged “other staff and students to apply for future offerings for a mini grant.”
The play structure has been ordered and is expected to arrive before the winter weather sets in.
Organizers of the MPSD Innovation Mini Grant anticipate opening another round of mini grant applications after winter break, depending on available funding.
The district’s Mental Health & Wellness Walk and Community Resource Fair provided the grant money.
