A former Halloween tradition with WOMT radio made its return over the weekend.
The station hosted a Spooktacular Halloween Party at Brick’s Downtown Bar and Grill on Saturday, just as it did for over 30 years when the building was called Studio 8.
The evening included games, giveaways, and a chance to win $5,000 from the cash vault. While no one won cash, plenty of gift certificates, WOMT merchandise, and other products were given away.
Vice President of Seehafer Broadcasting Terry Stevenson explains that it was important to bring the Halloween tradition back as WOMT celebrates 100 years of live, local radio.
“Let’s go back to the spot where we did it, here, now known as Brick’s Downtown Bar and Grill,” he explained. “This is where Studio 8 was; this is where we had so many parties. We didn’t want to go anywhere else but here.”
Money was also raised for the Chamber of Manitowoc County through a 50/50 raffle.
Kate Seidl with the Chamber tells Seehafernews.com that it was great to partner with WOMT to help raise money for their high school scholarship fund.
“People are willing to just give, and that is awesome to see,” she noted. “You don’t have to really bug anybody, so that’s really neat.”
Stevenson agreed, adding, “Jacque and Brandon Bartow are big supporters of the chamber. We are big supporters of the chamber. And it just made sense to give back that way. They are all about localism, and that’s what we are, all about localism.”
WOMT listeners have another chance to celebrate 100 years in the community this weekend.
PetSkull Brewing will host a Taproom Takeover this Friday (November 6th) beginning at 6:00 p.m., featuring a special beer tapped to recognize WOMT’s centennial celebration.
