There has been an uptick in vehicle thefts in Sheboygan, but only for specific makes and models.
The Sheboygan Police Department is warning residents who own Kia and Hyundai vehicles manufactured between 2011 and 2022 that their vehicle is “particularly vulnerable to theft.”
The exact reason for that was not explained, nor was the number of vehicles that have been stolen in recent weeks. Some of these models are eligible for free anti-theft updates, which can be obtained by contacting a Kia or Hyundai dealership.
In the meantime, vehicle owners are encouraged to always lock their vehicles, take their keys with them along with any valuables, park in secure, well-lit areas, and report any suspicious activity immediately.
