The trial for a Manitowoc man facing homicide charges has been postponed for now.
21-year-old Kirk Dunn was back in Manitowoc County court yesterday for a pre-trial conference.
Judge Anthony Lambrecht reviewed motions from both prosecutors and Dunn’s defense team before Attorney Mellissa Barrette asked for an adjournment of the trial as they wait for new ballistic analysis.
Manitowoc County District Attorney Jacalyn LaBre did not object, and the parties agreed to hold a scheduling conference on January 6th.
Prosecutors say the 21-year-old suspect shot and killed a 25-year-old man at an apartment complex on Dewey Street in Manitowoc last September.
After being shot, the victim was taken away in a private vehicle and later pronounced deceased on S. 17th Street.
Dunn claimed he was acting in self-defense.
He faces two charges, including 1st-degree intentional homicide with use of a dangerous weapon and 2nd-degree reckless endangerment.
