The Milwaukee Brewers are World Series Champs, and Manitowoc is continuing to celebrate.
Salute to Everyone and many other bars hosted watch parties for game five, which the Brewers won their way, 4-1 using small ball the whole way.
The crowd at Salute to Everyone was at full throat when Trevor Megill induced the game-winning ground ball, and for some, it felt like an inevitability.
Including for Timmy B, who was donning his 1982 Paul Molitor jersey.
“I knew this was going to happen,” he said with a smile. “Everybody’s feeling it. All of Wisconsin. It’s very cool to see.”
Jim Baetke was very impressed by how the Brewers were able to get to this point, playing a style of game that many said was out of vogue and not sustainable through the postseason.
“It’s just amazing to watch how they can hold on and grind out a win every time,” he said.
Bill Korte, who was 7 years old the last time the Brewers were in the Fall Classic, has a unique connection to that 1982 team.
“My parents used to own a screen printing shop and we made all the World Series t-shirts for that,” he explained. “That was the best day of my life.”
We spoke to Bill ahead of game four, so he may now have a new best day of his life as the Milwaukee Brewers have hoisted the Commissioner’s Trophy for the first time ever, all with Bob Uecker smiling down.
Derek Felber, the owner of Salute to Everyone was also ecstatic about the Brewers World Series win.
He says it brought in some good business.
“It was awesome to see so many people come in and watch the games,” he stated. “I got to meet a lot of new faces and make some new friends. It was truly amazing.”
We also asked Felber about how the Brewers winning the World Series ranked in seeing major sports wins.
“To be honest, I think it’s number one,” he admitted. “It’s nothing like a Super Bowl as they play a ton of games and play their hearts out every single night to achieve history. To me it’s number one on my book.”
