A Manitowoc man will return to court today ahead of his November homicide trial.
21-year-old Kirk Dunn will return for a pre-trial conference, where prosecutors are expected to introduce DNA evidence and submit a witness list.
Dunn has been charged with 1st-degree intentional homicide with use of a dangerous weapon and 2nd-degree recklessly endangering safety after a deadly shooting on Dewey Street in September last year.
A criminal complaint alleges that the 21-year-old shot and killed a 25-year-old man using a .40-caliber handgun, with the victim’s family claiming it was all over a woman.
The victim was taken away in a vehicle after being shot and was later pronounced dead on S. 17th Street. Dunn claims self-defense.
The 2nd-degree recklessly endangering safety charge comes after a bullet from a gun Dunn allegedly used was found in another building where the victim was sleeping.
His trial will begin on November 16th and is expected to last five days.
